Your space. Your information.
Privacy information for SplitBuds. Last updated November 5, 2026.
What you share with us
SplitBuds stores your account name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we use your verified email address, name, and Google account identifier to sign you in. Expenses and groups contain the people, amounts, descriptions, dates, and other details you choose to add.
How that information is used
Your information powers your account, expense calculations, group balances, and activity history. Other members of a shared group can see the group information and expenses you share with them. Only add information you are comfortable sharing with those members.
Google Contacts
If you choose Google Contacts in Friends, SplitBuds reads names, email addresses, and phone numbers so you can find a contact. We save only the details you confirm for a friend. We discard the temporary list and request that Google revoke the access token after the lookup. Your Google address book is not changed.
Receipt scanning
On splitbuds.com, your browser reads receipt photos and keeps the photo, recognized text, and prices on your device during scanning. For some layouts, SplitBuds sends anonymous row types to Google Gemini to match labels to prices. If you save an expense with the photo attached, SplitBuds stores it and makes it available to members who can see that expense.
Sessions and local storage
SplitBuds uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser may also store preferences that help the application work. Signing out ends your current authenticated session.
Your choices
You can review and edit the information available in your account and shared groups. Deleting shared records can change other members’ balances. Use sample data in the demo if you want to explore without adding personal expenses.
Hosting, email, and notifications
Cloudflare hosts the SplitBuds website and ledger. Resend delivers the sign-in links you request. If you opt in to push, Firebase Cloud Messaging uses a device token to deliver activity alerts. The alert shows a generic update and opens the group after SplitBuds checks your access. You can pause push or remove a device in Account security.
Contact and account deletion
You can request account deletion from Account security. For questions about your information, email support@splitbuds.com.
